Introduce the ideas of data summary visualization, probability and statistics with emphasis on applications to biological and life sciences. Topics include random variables, probability and sampling distributions, confidence intervals, hypothesis testing, analysis of variance, linear regression, logistic regression and survival analysis. This introductory course lays a solid foundation for higher level probability, statistical inference, machine learning and data analytics.
The course number/name is MATH 4740 Biostatistical Methods and Models, which is misleading because it is an introductory biostatistics course.
